Episode 9: Walking Alive

Previously on Kensington Way:

- Bryant was shocked when Carmen and Jamie fell over the balcony. He had Debra come over to examine them, and she tells him that they're going to be alright.

- Timothy gets a proposal from Tiffany when she asks for a lump sum of money to hire a lawyer for Dravis. Tim suggests Bryant, and also on one condition. She has to get Debra to fall back in love with her. Tiffany accepts and sets up a date for the two.

- Ryley questions Dravis about Shanna. He also points out that at one point a "mobster" history had something to do with it. Dravis quickly thinks of Tony and the dreams. Ryley also picks up on it.

- Jamie and Bryant have a heart to heart talk. Bryant begs her to accept Carmen, but it's going to take some time.

- Dravis's new dream has Vanessa taking him to a hospital where "mommy" is. He also learns that she lost a baby.

- When Carmen is sleeping Jamie has a chance to suffocate her.

- The next day, Tiffany goes to work, but forgets her car keys in her bedroom. When she returns she finds someone shoving base ball bats in her closet. It's the killer and she's in trouble!

Scene 1:

(The Heidel Bedroom)

(Tiffany begins to breathe heavier as she begins to realize that Shanna’s killer is standing right in front of her. Her life could have been flashing through her mind but there were a million other things like an escape plan for one.)

Tiffany:

All this time you wanted to frame Dravis for what you did! Why? What would possess you to do such an evil thing?

(Bryant begins to pick up some of the baseball bats that he dropped. After realizing that it doesn’t really matter, he just lets them go and gives his attention to Tiffany.)

Bryant:

The baseball bats were to secure a place for you. Of course I had to make it look like you were the one who did it. Dravis would be free but then he would have hired me to try and get you out of prison but I of course was going to steal all of your money and then skip town.

Tiffany:

Such a wise plan. Too bad it didn’t work.

Bryant:

What are you going to do? Call the police? You can’t call the police if you’re dead or unconscious or however you want to go. Actually you won’t have a choice.

Tiffany:

I know what your motive was to frame Dravis and me, but why did you have to kill Shanna? Her death is the main reason for everything.

Bryant:

Why? Since you won’t be able to breathe a word of it to anyone I guess I can tell you. Then again, you do know so much already. What’s a little more information going to do? It definitely couldn’t hurt...we’ll find out soon enough.

(As Bryant is talking to her, Tiffany puts her hands behind her back and begins to hold on to her car keys as if they were a weapon.)

Tiffany:

So are you going to tell me or what?

Bryant:

Everyone hated Shanna except for me. I loved her. I might have been the only one who did. It wasn’t just a schoolboy crush it was real passion and love. That was mostly what she gave me. Passion and lust. The whole trying to break up the Bravings was just a plot of hers that I went along with. Until the time she broke my heart for the last time. You know what I did? Well I guess you already know, but I’ll tell you anyway. I played baseball with her human body. It made me feel so good but I did it while I was intoxicated so I that I could conceal the pain.

Tiffany:

You seemed so dignified.

(Tiffany strikes at Bryant but he sees it from a mile away and grabs her arms and begins to put her in a head lock.)

Bryant:

It was obvious that you were stalling for time. Too bad that your time has run out!

Scene 2:

(Jamie’s Bedroom)

(After deciding not to smother her step aunt’s face in with a pillow, she sits alone in her bedroom. She feels cold and begins to wrap her arms around her self. The light sweater wasn’t helping her cold and neither was what she was thinking of. The one night that Terry had taken advantage of her. She couldn’t believe that it would happen and since it did, it was hurting.)

Jamie:

That bastard is going down for what he did!

(She begins to think of a plan, but what? It had to be cunning. It had to be devious. It had to be downright vengeful. Then there was Dravis behind a jail cell that came to mind. He didn’t deserve to be there Jamie thought, but Terry did. Jamie picks up the phone and dials Terry’s number. He answers and she does her best to hide her loathing and disgust for him.)

Jamie:

How are you doing?

Terry:

I just got back from class. I was going to go up to the gym but if you would like to hang out then my plans can change.

Jamie:

Oh you’re so sweet. Yes I do want to see you. I’ll come over to your dorm as soon as possible.

Terry:

Sure thing. This is kind of an unexpected call.

Jamie:

Why would you say that?

Terry:

Because I thought you didn’t like me. We exchanged phone numbers and other things but you haven’t made an effort to see me until now.

Jamie:

I’ve been extremely busy but that’s why I wanted to make sure we hung out today. Will we be alone at all?

Terry:

My roommate is at work so of course we will be.

Jamie:

Good see you real soon.

(Jamie hangs up with Terry and makes her way over to her dresser. She puts on her winter jacket and black velvet gloves. She then goes into the bathroom and begins to rummage through the cabinet. There was nothing but a clutter of toiletries, pills, etc. Then she found what she needed. Valium. Jamie was smart enough to know that Bryant took them when he needed to be calm. She knew what kind of pain they could cause. She takes two pills and puts them in her pocket. Before she leaves she looks at herself in the mirror and smiles.)

Jamie:

No one messes with Jamie Wyze and gets away with it!

Scene 3:

(The Grand Green Grille)

(Later on in the day, Timothy walks into the semi-fancy Grand Green Grille. The decor was just as the name suggested. The shade of Green. How did that saying go, he asked himself? Green with envy. That was one thing that he wasn’t going to be feeling. If Tiffany did what she was told to do. He finds Debra sitting alone and sits with her.)

Debra: (noticing him)

Timothy! What are you doing here?

Timothy:

Just wanted to stop for a bite to eat. Is that the reason why you’re here?

Debra:

Tiffany was supposed to meet me here. I guess she’s not coming because she’s over twenty minutes late.

Timothy:

Looks like our friend bailed. I guess that I can still say the word "our," since the both of us still talk to the Heidels.

Debra:

Are you going to just ramble on or are you going to join me?

Timothy:

Is that an invitation?

Debra:

The only one that you’re going to get from me anytime soon.

(Timothy pulls a seat across from her and makes himself comfortable.)

Timothy:

I never thought you would ask.

Scene 4:

(Terry’s Dorm Room)

(Jamie knocks on Terry’s door and he opens it. Just to impress her he has his shirt off. It just makes her even more repulsed by him. She makes her way into his room and acts as if she’s impressed with his physique or his ego.)

Jamie:

You could have put some clothes on.

Terry:

Now what kind of fun would that be when we have this room all alone to ourselves.

(Terry leans in and kisses her. She slightly pushes him off of her.)

Terry:

What’s wrong?

Jamie:

I need a mint that’s all.

(She takes the two valium pills out of her pocket and places them on the tip of her tongue. She then kisses him wildly and makes sure that the pills are slipped deep in his mouth.)

Terry:

You really do know how to please. I’m glad that I met you that one night.

Jamie:

I’m sure you were. Since we always celebrate with something. Do you have any beer?

Terry:

Way ahead of you.

(He hands her a beer and she pretends to drink and watches as he sips.)

Terry:

Do you want your mint back? It tastes kind of funny.

Jamie:

No that’s okay. So tell me how does it feel to be a bastard that rapes girls?

Terry: (confused)

Huh?

(Jamie pushes his bottle and begins to violently shake his head to make sure that he swallows the Valium pills that she produced. Once he begins to show signs of weariness, she stops.)

Jamie:

Perfect.

(Jamie opens the door and places him over her shoulder as if to make it look like he were drunk and she was helping him. Other students were staring but Jamie didn’t care. Jamie opens the passenger side of her car and places him in there. He was sound asleep. Knocked out cold. It was the way Jamie wanted it. Jamie starts her engine and drives.)

Jamie: (talking to unconscious Terry)

How does it feel? How does it feel to be drugged and taken advantage of. That’s probably what you would want me to do to you. Sick bastard. You have no respect for women. For that I’m going to have to teach you a lesson! One that you’re never going to forget. Oh look. We’re here already. It was such a short drive. Was it not?

(Jamie parks away from the destination that she needed to be. It was Shanna’s old apartment complex. Jamie pulls out a piece of paper that she had stolen off of Bryant’s desk. 404 was the number. She finds a back way and then takes Terry into the elevator and lights up a button marked four. Once the door opens, she looks out and sees that the coast is clear. Shanna’s room was obvious. It was marked with yellow police tape, but no one was there.)

Jamie:

You’re not going to remember a thing!

(Jamie goes up to the door and quickly opens it. The room was torn apart by the police. She makes her way towards the bedroom and throws Terry on it. She looks at his listless body. Then she rummages again throughout some of Shanna’s drawers and finds some of her underwear. She throws them all over Terry. Then she makes her way out and makes sure that no one has seen her. No one did. Jamie pulls out her cell phone and calls the Kensington Way, P.D.)

Jamie: (to the Operator)

Can I please talk to Ryley Schantz?

Ryley:

This is Ryley Schantz. How can I help you?

Jamie: (hysterically crying)

Mister Schantz my name is Jamie Wyze and I have some really important news to tell you. My friend Terry Lomburgh had told me that he had an obsession with Shanna Schoolor and one night when he was drunk, he said that he wanted her dead.

Ryley:

Calm down. Where are you right now?

Jamie:

La Miranda Locks apartment complex. Miss Schoolor’s-

Ryley:

We know. What are you doing there?

Jamie:

The last time Terry and I talked he said that he was going over there. I tried to stop him but I can’t find him. Please just come over and help!

Ryley:

You stay put. We’ll be right over.

(Jamie hangs up with Ryley. She begins to smile with victory.)

Jamie:

Mission accomplished!

Scene 5:

(Debra’s Home)

(After having a wonderful time at the Grand Green Grille, Timothy walks Debra to her door. Which used to be his door.)

Debra:

It feels like we’re in high school all over again.

Timothy:

It sure does.

Debra:

You must be pretty lonely when you go back to that suite of yours.

Timothy:

I really am.

Debra:

Tonight was fun.

Timothy:

Yes it was.

Debra:

And I’m just...

Timothy:

Waiting for me to kiss you?

Debra:

Yeah.

(Timothy places his hands on her cheeks and kisses her tenderly. It felt like they never were apart.)

Timothy:

Still the same.

Debra:

Things have changed. Moods have changed.

Timothy:

Then let’s make a change of her own.

Debra:

Would you like to spend the night?

Timothy:

Only on one condition.

Debra:

Which is?

Timothy:

That tonight can be extended into the rest of our lives.

Debra:

Let’s just worry about tonight.

(Debra takes Timothy’s hand as they walk into their home. Timothy shuts the door.)

Scene 6:

(Dravis’s Jail Cell)

(Dravis is reading a magazine that one of the other inmates had given him. They were actually being nice to him. He didn’t know why. Then Ryley comes to his cell. He opens it.)

Dravis:

What are you doing?

Ryley:

Letting you go.

Dravis:

Just like that?

Ryley:

It seems as if we got our wrong man. This kind of mistake happens all the time. Someone else is now in questioning and it looks as if they had more motive then you and some sort of sick obsession with Shanna.

Dravis:

I could have told you that one. Oh wait, I did!

Ryley:

Are you going to go or what?

Dravis:

Can I at least have a change of clothes?

(Ryley hands him a suit case full of clothes.)

Ryley:

I expect you to leave in the next twenty minutes. Just wanted to warn you though that you might have a run in with the press.

Dravis:

And what about my option to sue your ass for wrongful accusations?

Ryley:

You were involved with the law. Standard procedure.

Dravis:

So what you’re saying is that I really have no choice?

Ryley:

Exactly. Just be glad that there has been a turn of events. You might have went to court and things could have been a lot worse.

Dravis:

If you’ll excuse me I’m going to get ready to leave. By the way. I’m not thankful for anything.

Scene 7:

(Heidel Bedroom)

(After undoing all of the shoestrings of every Heidel shoe in the bedroom, Bryant uses it to tie up Tiffany on her bed.)

Tiffany:

This really isn’t necessary.

Bryant:

Oh and why is that?

Tiffany:

Because I swore to you that I wasn’t going to tell anyone. I’ll even help you. You can talk to me and everything. I used to study psychology heavily.

Bryant:

As flattering as that sounds, I think that I’m going to pass. You know way too much! I hope you don’t mind that I turn on the radio. I don’t want the neighbors to hear you scream too much.

Tiffany: (pleading)

Please...Please don’t do anything to hurt me!

(Bryant turns on the radio and somehow the FM dial is on.)

Radio Reporter:

Breaking News. The death of Shanna Schoolor may have come to a close. A KWU student was found passed out in Schoolor’s bedroom and had supposedly admitted to hurting the woman earlier. Head detective Ryley Schantz was unavailable for questioning but the student was brought in for questioning. Dravis Heidel, the once convicted main suspect, was released.

(Bryant turns off the radio. The news report has stunned him.)

Tiffany:

Did you hear that? Some other person was brought in and Dravis is free. Which means that you can let me go and I promise you that it’ll be our little secret. Besides Dravis is coming home. He’ll have to play hero once again.

(Bryant looks deep into her eyes. He can sense her fear yet she has determination. What was he to do? He picks up one of the baseball bats from the floor and grips it tightly. Tiffany closes her eyes. She prays that nothing will happen to her.)

Scene 8:

(Outside of the Kensington Way, Police Department)

(Once Dravis has his things, files all of the paper work, and gets his things set, he makes his way outside. A herd of reporters begin to swarm Dravis as he makes his way down the steps. He tries to avoid them but can’t. There’s no way that he could because there were so many of them. They begin to yell questions at him.)

Dravis:

The only thing that I can say is that I’m happy that everyone found the innocense that I knew I possessed. It was the only thing that kept me safe. Now if you’ll excuse me.

(Dravis tries to make his way through the reporters, until one woman who doesn’t look like a reporter but an innocent civilian catches his eye.)

Dravis: (confused)

What the-?

(The woman looks very familiar to him.)

Dravis:

Shanna?

On the next Episode of Kensington Way:

Is Shanna alive or has Dravis become delusional?
