Episode 8: Killer Revelations

Previously on Kensington Way:

- Dravis was taken in for questioning and was given one phone call. He of course calls Tiffany, who at first doesn't know what to believe, but he begs her to help him in getting out of jail.

- Jamie wakes up to having no clothes on and leaves Terri's dorm room loathing the fact that she was taken advantage of. She calls Dravis (the only person who would understand) but learns the news that he has been arrested.

- Bryant visits Shanna's grave with Carmen by his side. To forget about Shanna, he asks Carmen to marry her and she says yes.

- Debra visits Timothy (with plans of acting desperate to him) but it changes when he begins to give into her. She informs him that the only way she'll let him back into her life, is if he wants her.

- Vanessa pays a visit to Dravis and he demands to know why she keeps seeing him. She explains that she's going to take him to parts of his life that were unanswered. She also tells him that she could maybe explain why he was in jail for killing Shanna.

- Carmen makes a mysterious phone call to someone explaining that all is going as planned.

- When Jamie finds out about her uncle's engagement with Carmen and becomes angry. With all that has happened, she lashes out at Carmen. Their lashing tounges turn into lashing slaps and a nasty cat fight breaks out. Both women accidentally throw each other off of the second floor foyer balcony.

Scene 1:

(Bryant’s Livingroom)

(For once someone else was getting hurt and it wasn’t Bryant Barrone. With panic, Bryant goes over to both women. They are faintly breathing. Bryant gets on his knees to look closer. He doesn’t know what to do.)

Bryant:

(Shaky)

Ja- Jamie? Carmen?

(Nothing but shear silence comes between them. Bryant gets up and picks up the phone. He dials Debra’s number. After two rings, Debra answers.)

Bryant:

Debra I need your help. You’re the only person that I know I could call. I can’t call an ambulance. I could but it’s just- There’s been so much going on in this neighborhood and my money situation isn’t as great as everyone thinks it is.

Debra:

What’s going on?

Bryant:

Maybe you should come over and see this. I really can’t explain it at the moment. I’m a little shaken up.

Debra:

I’m coming over right now.

(Bryant hangs up the phone and waits. He looks at Carmen. Her head is faced down on the floor but she’s still breathing. Jamie is lying on her back with her eyes closed.)

Bryant:

What the hell has happened?

(Debra knocks on the door and Bryant opens it to let her in.)

Debra:

You seemed so shaken up on the phone. What’s up?

Bryant:

You’re a doctor and I know that you can help. It’s Jamie and Carmen. They were arguing and then I guess they started to fight. Next thing I see is both of them falling over the banister and hitting the floor.

(Debra bends down to look at both girls. She checks both of their pulses.)

Debra:

They’re both breathing.

(Debra puts both girls on top of the couch. She begins feeling their arms and legs.)

Bryant:

So what’s wrong with them?

Debra:

Both women are going to be okay. The wind was just knocked out of them.

Bryant:

Any suggestions?

Debra:

Put them to rest. When they wake up, find out if there are any bruises or if anything feels broken. If that does happen, which I doubt, then they would have to go to the hospital. Tell me. How did this all happen?

(Bryant looks away from her.)

Bryant:

Carmen is my ex-wife and Jamie had found out that we were engaged to remarry. She wasn’t happy about it and the two started fighting. Then this accident had to happen. It seems as if physical pain has to run through my family.

Debra:

Wow. You’re getting married again?

Bryant:

Yeah. You and I-

Debra:

It’s okay. You don’t have to rationalize anything. Besides, there’s a good chance that Timothy and I may have a reconciliation. Now that Shanna’s out of our lives.

Bryant:

Shanna.

Debra:

Did you know her?

Bryant:

Yeah. But there’s more to that story that I can’t tell.

Debra:

Will I ever get to hear it?

Bryant:

I don’t think that you would want to.

(Quickly changing the subject.)

Friends?

Debra:

Friends.

(Debra leaves and Bryant is alone by himself in his foyer as he watches her cross the street to go back to her empty home.)

Bryant:

There’s no way that you could find out about Shanna’s plan to break up your marriage. There’s just no way.

Scene 2:

(Braving Inc.)

(Timothy sits alone in his desk. Everything around him is quiet. He leans back in his chair and looks out the window in front of him. Night was slowly approaching. If it were two weeks ago, he’d be with Shanna. She would be fulfilling all of his needs and desires. She was fun. But then there was Debra. He put her through so much pain. Pain that’s biting him right back in the ass. Karma. That was the word to describe what was happening to him.)

Timothy:

Everything has changed.

(Being king of the throne, or of Braving Inc., wasn’t all cracked up as it felt like it should be. He’s made many mistakes. Maybe it’s because of the money. Money leads to greed. And power can fall. But as long as he could keep his sanity. Power was his number one aspect and it always will be.)

(There is a knock on the door. The knock makes him jump a little bit. He turns his chair around to face the door.)

Timothy:

Come in.

(Tiffany walks in. Dressed with a black coat and jeans. A lime green scarf covers her neck.)

Timothy:

Tiffany. What a surprise. It’s very nice to see you.

(Timothy begins to get up but she puts out her hand to gesture to stop.)

Tiffany:

No need to get up. You’re just going to be sitting back down anyway.

Timothy:

Thank you. I guess. So what do I owe this pleasure to?

Tiffany:

Have you heard the news?

Timothy:

What news?

Tiffany:

Oh come on. Don’t play dumb with me. You mean to tell me that you haven’t turned on the television to hear about what’s going on with your best friend?

Timothy:

No Tiffany I haven’t. I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t heard the news in I don’t know how long.

Tiffany:

Well. Dravis was arrested for supposedly murdering Shanna. The cops came searching in, went up to our bedroom, and when they opened the door... the weapon that was used against Shanna Schoolor had popped out.

Timothy:

(Shocked)

I can’t believe this. Why? Why would this happen?

Tiffany:

No one really knows. I sure as hell don’t. But I came to you because I need something from you.

Timothy:

Well that’s funny because if I’m going to be doing something for you then maybe you can do something for me.

Tiffany:

Like what?

Timothy:

Like talk my ex-wife into re-thinking about re-kindling our romance that we once had.

Tiffany:

You are just full of surprises. All it took was to have your mistress murdered.

Timothy:

Please consider it.

Tiffany:

Oh I will. I know for a fact that Debra has been grieving for quite some time now. Maybe you could- no wait, there’s no maybe about it, you are the one who can fix it all.

Timothy:

Now that we’ve agreed on what you can do for me. What is it that I can do for you?

Tiffany:

My request is a little simple but I’m going to admit that I feel a little petty for asking. With Dravis in jail I might have to hire a lawyer. Have any suggestions on who?

Timothy:

Why not ask your next door neighbor Bryant Barrone. He’s a great lawyer. Recently he won his last case with some girl from Point Palace University in Colorado. Is that all you needed? A lawyer recommendation?

Tiffany:

That’s only a part of it. To get Dravis out of jail, of course I’d have to hire Bryant to do so, only...my money situation isn’t as, how should I say? Great as it used to be. Before this whole fiasco happened, Dravis did lose his job. And my librarian salary isn’t going to cover it.

Timothy:

You came here to ask me for money?

Tiffany:

I know that I can pay you back.

Timothy:

No!

Tiffany:

(confused)

No to the money?

Timothy:

No to the fact that you’d have to pay me back. Get Debra to consider trying again and you’ll have your money.

Tiffany:

Thank you. You don’t know how much this means to Dravis and me.

Timothy:

Anything to have Dravis saved.

Scene 3

(Kensington Way, P.D.)

(Ryley walks up to Dravis’s jail cell. He looks into the dark block and sees Dravis looking right back at him as he lies on his bed.)

Dravis:

Do I have a visitor?

Ryley:

Yeah. Me.

Dravis:

This is kind of weird. I thought that the only time I would see you again is when I have visitors, phone calls, evidence against me, or anything else dealing with this case. If it is a case.

Ryley:

You and I need to have a serious conversation about what happened. The night that we went into your home, with a warrant, and we found what we did. It wasn’t the end. We have more questions for you.

Dravis:

Basically what you want to do is interrogate me some more?

Ryley:

Are you willing to cooperate?

Dravis:

Fine. If it’s going to better my case. Maybe my lawyer should be around for this.

Ryley:

There’s no need.

(Ryley opens the jail cell with a set of keys. Dravis stands up and walks out of it. Ryley closes the cell and the two walk down the hallway, past all of the convicts and the others who deserved to be there, until they stand in front of a white door marked ‘A.’ Ryley opens the door with another set of keys. He opens the door and Dravis looks around. It’s just like what is seen in the movies. A mirror, with other cops and detectives watching, one that is supposed to be incognito. But there was nothing secretive about it. The room was plain. A ceiling light that flickered and flashed white. A table with a chair on both sides. Dravis sits down and Ryley sits across from him.)

Ryley:

Before we start this, there are a few things that I would like for you to know. This conversation is being taped. Agreed?

Dravis:

Agreed.

Ryley:

You may request a copy of the tape if and when there is a trial. That would probably be a decision by your lawyer.

Dravis:

Okay.

(Ryley folds his hands and looks deeply into Dravis’s eyes. His stare could burn a hole into anything, but it wasn’t scaring Dravis.)

Ryley:

The reason why you’re here is because of what we found in your home. That is the biggest piece of evidence that is making you look like a killer. Would you please explain why it was there?

Dravis:

I have no idea. I don’t even like baseball. Ice hockey is my favorite sport but since it hasn’t been on television in a while, that doesn’t mean that I go and use hockey sticks or ice skates as weapons.

Ryley:

Why would it be there in the first place?

Dravis:

Because the real killer wants to make it look like I did it. Hell it practically worked with you and your men.

Ryley:

(Sternly)

Wouldn’t you think the same thing if you were in my opinion?

Dravis:

Fair enough. But that’s all I really have to say about why it was there. If you want I’ll take a lie detector test and go ahead and run tests for fingerprints on that club.

Ryley:

We have.

Dravis:

And what did you find?

Ryley:

Smudged glove prints.

Dravis:

Go ahead and search through my house. You’ll see that both Tiffany and I do not have gloves.

Ryley:

Not even for winter?

Dravis:

Not even.

(Ryley looks at the mirror and then looks back at Dravis.)

Dravis:

Anything else you would like to ask me about? I’ve answered everything that you’ve wanted to know. I’ve tried my hardest to try and prove that I’m innocent and that I don’t belong here.

Ryley:

We’ll figure that out sooner or later. But before we conclude, do you mind if we ask about your previous job?

Dravis:

Being president of Advophone? What does that have to do with anything.

Ryley:

No. Not that job. We dug up a few things from your past and it seems as if you have done some very illegal things.

Dravis:

(Confused and shocked)

What?!

Ryley:

Grand theft auto. Drug busts. Were you involved with the mob at some point?

(The accusation makes Dravis chuckle.)

Dravis:

Was I involved with a mob?

(Dravis begins to shake his head out of disbelief. He then thinks of his dream that he had when Vanessa had taken him to Tony Viscanni’s grave.)

Dravis:

That is absolutely ridiculous. Where do you people get this stuff from?

Ryley:

Unnamed sources. We’re done here. An officer will escort you back to your cell. Thank for your time.

Dravis:

Thank you. Hopefully you see it my way.

(The officer comes into the interrogation room and guides Dravis out. Once the door is shut, Ryley looks at the mirror.)

Ryley:

What did you all gather out of that?

Officer:

(Comes over through the intercom)

There’s something not right. The whole mob thing obviously hit a nerve but we can’t bust him on that. What do you think? You were the one who was interviewing him.

(Ryley pounds his fists down on the desk.)

Ryley:

Either he’s a good liar or someone else is a great master mind.

Scene 4:

(Jamie’s Bedroom)

(Jamie wakes up in her own bed. She looks at her clock and it flashes 8:34. She stretches her legs out of bed. All she remembered was fighting with Carmen, which was nothing new, and then hitting her head off of the floor when they both fell off of the banister. There is a knock on her door and it’s Bryant. He comes in with a steaming hot cup of cocoa. The light of the hallway is glowing as the room is nothing but dark.)

Bryant:

Evening sleepy head. Doctor Debra Braving ordered me to ask you how you are feeling? Any broken bones, fractures, cuts, bruises?

Jamie:

Nothing like that serious. Except for a few minor cuts and bruises, that’s just about it. You really don’t have anything to worry about.

(Bryant walks over to her lamp and turns it on. He then sits on the corner of her bed.)

Bryant:

Maybe we should have a little talk.

Jamie:

Sounds good to me. But you should have talked before you asked to marry that monster.

Bryant:

That’s exactly what we need to talk about.

Jamie:

Why couldn’t you have just went out with Debra. She’s nice, smart, and classy!

Bryant:

Debra and I just didn’t work out.

Jamie:

Why? Because Shanna broke up that relationship too?

Bryant:

How did you know?

Jamie:

I might have asked you to stop seeing her, but I know you. You wouldn’t listen to a word I say. Her death must have hit you hard.

Bryant:

It did but then Carmen came back into my life and took all of that pain away.

Jamie:

Yeah but she also brought more.

Bryant:

All that I want is for you to just get along with her.

Jamie:

(Shouting)

Why should I get along with someone who broke your heart and walked out of our family when we needed her the most? Why should I get along when after so many years it was just you and I and we were doing just fine?

Bryant:

Because I love her and you’re just going to have to deal with that.

Jamie:

Well I have other things on my mind.

Bryant:

Like what?

Jamie:

I can’t tell you. At least not now.

Bryant:

Fine. Just think of what I told you though. It’s not going to take an hour, a day, or even a week to do so, but I know that you could find it in your heart to see that for once she has made me happy again. And what would make me even happier is that, you will accept her as a mother again.

(Bryant kisses her on her forehead. It was almost like they were father and daughter. He then exits. And shuts the door behind him.)

Jamie:

I’ll accept it. But I have more important issues. Like getting revenge on Terry Laumburgh!

Scene 5

(The Heidel Livingroom)

(Tiffany sits on her couch in the living room sipping on a glass of brandy and listening to classical music. Those were two thing that calmed her down: liquor and soft music. She then picks up her phone and calls Debra. Debra answers on the first ring.)

Tiffany:

What are you doing right now?

Debra:

Absolutely nothing, but I have great news to tell you. I saw Timothy the other night and I was planning on throwing myself at him. Instead I didn’t and he somehow wanted me. All because his mistress is gone.

Tiffany:

That’s great to hear. I would love to celebrate but not tonight. Somehow I just don’t feel like being cheered up or anything.

Debra:

Yeah, I’d imagine. Where would you like to go?

Tiffany:

Giovanni’s?

Debra:

No. How about Grand Green Grille?

Tiffany:

Sounds good. I’ll meet you there tomorrow night. Let’s say around eight p.m.

(Tiffany hangs up with Debra and then calls Tim.)

Tiffany:

I did exactly what you said. She wants to meet with you at The Grand Green Grille. Tomorrow night at eight. You better be there.

Timothy:

Thank you.

Tiffany:

On your way to remember is to bring me the money and we’ll call it even. Until tomorrow.

(Tiffany takes a final sip of her brandy and smiles with success.)

Tiffany:

Finally! I’m getting what I deserve.

Scene 6:

(Pitch black)

(A blue light lights up the sky but the clouds are gray. It was something new in Dravis’s continuing dream. The ground was nothing but hard, black, cemented asphalt. Dravis walks against the ground. Then Vanessa shows up behind him.)

Vanessa:

Hey daddy.

Dravis:

It’s nice to see you again.

Vanessa:

You love seeing me. Admit it.

Dravis:

The only thing that I will admit is that you keep my dreams interesting and confusing.

Vanessa:

Dreams are supposed to be like that. And believe me, it’s going to get a lot weirder!

Dravis:

Why? That’s a question that you keep hearing from me because I don’t understand why you keep popping in my dreams.

Vanessa:

Not this again! Look the only thing you’ll get out of me will be...just stay with me. Guaranteed you’ll get everything you want.

Dravis:

What’s on the agenda for this dream?

Vanessa:

We have to go and see mommy.

(A building falls from the sky. It turns out to be a hospital building. Vanessa takes his hand and leads him into the building. The structure and ambiance feels like it’s in a mental ward. From the moment he steps in, a flash back in black and white comes over him. He enters a home and gets an angry look upon his face.)

Dravis:

(Talking to the person who is standing in front of him but is not seen)

What are you so mad about? I tried calling you to tell you that I was going to be late. Everything is never good enough for you anymore! Ever since you lost it, I’ve had tears for the both of us. But you can’t blame me. I’m sorry and I will get my revenge!

(The flashback flashes to another black and white moment. An SUV truck comes into view and Dravis looks out the window of what seems to be his home at the time. The truck comes for him and then crashes into the house.)

Dravis:

Didn’t that already happen?

Vanessa:

Are you talking to yourself?

Dravis:

No. Just had a flashback that’s all.

Vanessa:

Having flashbacks in dreams. You might be going crazy. We have to go and pay mommy a visit. She’s been okay since the accident.

(Vanessa takes him to "mommy’s" hospital room. The name is blurry.)

Dravis:

Vanessa I need you to be honest with me about something. How did mommy have an accident?

Vanessa:

You just saw it!

Dravis:

What?

Vanessa:

I’m a smart little dream girl. I know you had a flash back of mommy’s accident. But if you can’t remember or if you don’t want to, someone tried killing her. Someone ran their car into our home and she was ran over. You can talk to mommy now.

("Mommy’s" bed is covered by drapes so no one can see her. He goes over to open it but then everything freezes. He then wakes up from his dream. The dream has left him in a sweat.)

Dravis:

Somehow this is a puzzle! And the dreams are my pieces.

- - -

Scene 7:

(Bryant’s Bedroom/ Next Morning)

(Bryant has left for work and Carmen is still asleep from the previous day. Jamie lurks into the room and looks at her. She shoots her an evil glare.)

Jamie:

Right now you have come back into my life and all you can do is ruin it for me! Do you even care about me? No. Of course you don’t. The only thing you care about is yourself. Because you’re the one who is selfish. You couldn’t let Uncle Bryant be happy with his life and you certainly wouldn’t let me be happy. Your future husband wants us to be civil. He wants us to go back to when you acted like my mother. My mother is dead and when you left, you were dead to me to. Did you even know that I was raped the other night? Taken advantage of because some guy wanted to use me for sex!

(Jamie stops talking but it doesn’t phase Carmen. She is still sleeping. Carmen walks over and grabs a pillow off of the bed next to Carmen and holds on to it.)

Jamie:

Look at you. You seem so calm and peaceful after that nasty fall. Well...too bad that I could kill you right now and no one would even know it!

(Jamie looks at the pillow that is in her grasp. She giggles an evil laugh to herself.)

Jamie:

Should I?

- - -

Scene 8:

(Heidel Garage)

(Tiffany gets into her car to go to work. Of course she would have to face her co-workers and have them talk about her behind her back because of all the news reports about Dravis. It didn’t phase her. She then realizes that she has forgotten her purse and left it upstairs in the bedroom.)

Tiffany:

Stupid me.

(When Tiffany gets up to her bedroom and opens the door, she sees that a person has broken in to her house and in to her room. They don’t see her as baseball bats are seen being dropped.)

Tiffany:

(Confused)

Oh my- ! It was you! You were the one who killed Shanna. And you were trying to frame Dravis this whole time!

On the next episode of Kensington Way:

Tiffany's life is in major danger when Shanna's killer is revealed and just wait until you see who did it.
