Episode 10: Vanessa's Mother

- Tiffany found out that Bryant killed Shanna and planned on framing Dravis for everything, but her life was in major danger when Bryant went psycho and kidnapped her in her own room. Things looked grim when Bryant was about to do the same thing that he did to Shanna, to her.

- Jamie decided that enough was enough and it was time to take action against the one who did her wrong. She sets up a plan to lure Terry into drinking with her. Before he realizes it, she drugs him, and places his unconcious body in Shanna's crime scene room. Then she places a call to Ryley Schantz, saying that Terry admitted to killing Shanna.

- Timothy's plan to be alone with Debra works when Tiffany doesn't show up like planned. The two begin to reconcile and decide to extend things back to their own home. The two think about being together...forever.

- Ryley appologizes to Dravis for making the mistake of arresting him. He explains that it was only because he was a suspect in questioning. Dravis is a free man. When he leaves, a press conference begins to heat up, but one of the reporters looks awfully familiar to him. Dravis thinks that he sees Shanna.

Scene 1:

(Outside of the Kensington Way, Police Department)

(Dravis frantically tries to get away from all of the reporters, but he can’t. It’s almost as if they were swarming him. Microphones, camera flashes, the person who he thought was Shanna was nothing but a blur.)

Dravis:

(to the reporters)

This conference is done!

(Dravis pushes his way through the crowd of reporters, who only wanted to get their story. They had it. The front headlines would probably say: ‘ACCUSED SUSPECT RELEASED!’ Of course reporters in Kensington Way, on a bright/sunny day, were hungry for the "truth." Just like Dravis was to find out if his vision was true. This wasn’t another dream. If it was, then Vanessa probably would have popped up, but she was no where in sight.)

Dravis:

(screaming)

Hey! Hey you!

(From his point of view, Dravis was running along the street, on a mission. He was pushing the people who got in his way. People in business suits, some more reporters, casual teenagers on cell phones. He was on the hunt to find Shanna.)

Dravis:

Someone stop that woman!

(No one was listening to him. He might have been just released from jail, but in a second, he could have been looked at as strange. The dead can’t come back alive. That’s what Dravis thought to himself...but he was so sure that he saw her.)

Dravis:

(to himself)

I swear- I swear I saw Shanna walking alive.

(Dravis continues to run, until he thinks that he has caught up with Shanna. He forcefully grabs her shoulders to turn her around to find a very upset younger lady, who only slightly looks like the ‘dead vixen.’)

Younger Woman:

What the hell do you think you’re doing? Get your hands off of me!

Dravis:

(out of breath)

I’m really sorry. I- I thought that you were someone else.

Younger Woman:

Whatever creep!

(The younger woman walks away, shooting him an upset look that could burn holes through his shirt. She was probably going to go and pull out her cell phone to tell her friends about her experience, or go and call the police. That was the last thing that Dravis needed. Dravis gives up hope of finding Shanna. He holds his knees and stops to catch his breath. There was no hope. If he only looked behind him at the phone booth. Dravis actually does look, and the girl turns her head the other way. He was looking right at her, but he didn’t know it.)

Shanna:

(to the caller on the other end)

I screwed up! He saw me. Dravis Heidel knows that I’m alive.

- - -

Scene 2:

(Heidel Bedroom)

(Tiffany watches in horror as Bryant raises a baseball bat in the air. It was as if he were going to swing and her human head was going to be the ball.)

Tiffany:

Just put the bat down. Did you hear on the radio? They captured someone else.

Bryant:

No! NO!

(Bryant violently smashes the floor with such madness. He was seeing red.)

Bryant:

You told me that you thought that I was dignified. I was at one point. I had it all. A good job. New marriage. My family was coming back together. However, I had a dark secret hidden in my closet. It was the skeleton of Shanna’s dead body! I loved her with all my heart.

(A tear falls from Bryant’s eye. It slides from his cheek bone to his shaking fists that are clenching in rage and psychotic anger.)

Tiffany:

That tear shows it. Dravis is obviously going to be released and he’s probably on his way home. I’m sure he’ll be escorted by the police. Do you think it would look really good if they walked in here and saw that? Dravis would have to save me.

Bryant:

What are you trying to say Tiff? That my tear shows that I’m vulnerable! Or is that what you’re wishing.

Tiffany:

I’m saying that if you let me go...I promise that no one, and especially not the Kensington Way police department, would find out about what you did.

Bryant:

So it would be our little secret? That I was the one who killed the town whore. I’m sure you would want to tell your husband. You would love to tell him about all of this.

Tiffany:

Just let me go Bryant.

Bryant:

You think too optimistically.

Tiffany:

And you should too.

Bryant:

The only thing that I can think of is that no one found out about my little secret, until you walked in.

Tiffany:

And no one will have to know about it. Ever.

Bryant:

I’m supposed to take you’re word? I will agree with you on something. We are going to pretend like none of this ever happened. You want to make everything look like it was believable? Well we sure as hell can do it. You’re going to write Dravis a note, explaining to him, that you have to work very late and you don’t know when you’re coming back.

Tiffany:

What are you going to do with me?

Bryant:

I truly believe that you want to be sincere. Maybe you just want to escape and pretend like none of this ever happened.

Tiffany:

The only thing that I want, is to make sure that you’re okay.

(Bryant turns his back on Tiffany so that he can’t see what he has planned for her. She was so helpless. Tied up like she was. He was the bird and she was the prey. More like the curious cat. Ironically, it was in her home. Bryant pulls out a syringe from his pocket.)

Bryant:

Now Tiffany, you know that’s a bold faced lie!

(Bryant turns around to show her the dangerous syringe. Tiffany was so scared because she didn’t know what it contained, but soon enough, she was going to find out.)

Bryant:

You just had to walk in! You just had to ruin everything.

(Bryant injects the syringe into the side of her neck. Before she could even scream...she was heavily sedated.)

Scene 3:

(Braving Household)

(Debra and Timothy lie in bed together, after just making love with one another. The love that they had just shared felt like it could have lasted forever. Just like it used to be when they were married. Timothy kisses Debra’s forehead.)

Timothy:

That was nice.

Debra:

Yes...yes it was. It’s just a shame that it took so long for us to realize that we needed our love back into our lives.

Timothy:

You and I were going through some things.

Debra:

We really never discussed this when we were fighting.

Timothy:

That’s because all we did was fight with one another. Sometimes, I just didn’t feel like fighting with you, which is why I ran away from how I felt.

Debra:

You know that I was willing to hear what you had to say.

Timothy:

I tried so hard to apologize for what I did to you. Or at least I wanted to. The reason why I did it was because...it was an accident. Then you caught me in the act and I thought Shanna really felt something for me. At that time, my mind was in such a weird messed up state, that when you threw me out, Shanna was what I wanted.

Debra:

Well, what a mistake that was.

Timothy:

And I realized that sometime ago. Somehow I never caught on that she was just trying to use me to get control over my business.

Debra:

Which is why I don’t believe for one second that Dravis had anything to do with her murder.

Timothy:

Yeah. I agree with you on that one.

Debra:

Another reason why Shanna wanted you, was probably because she knew how good you were to me. I’m sure she felt something more than just lust and greed.

(Timothy smiles at the comment. The conversation was a breakthrough for Debra and Timothy. To have them talk their problems out, after just making love with one another, was making things look up for them.)

Timothy:

Is this the way you wanted things to turn out?

Debra:

Of course. There’s nothing I would like more then to have you in my arms again. Not even Bryant Barrone could hold a torch to you.

Timothy:

What a compliment. I’m glad too, because I wouldn’t want it any other way.

(Debra and Timothy kiss each other. The kissing might be signifying that they wanted to renew their marriage. Debra was only thankful that Shanna wasn’t around to cause problems anymore.)

Scene 4:

(Barone Living Room)

(Jamie lies down on the couch during a nap. She shakes and quivers to show that she is obviously having a nightmare. Then just like that, she wakes up.)

Jamie:

It was just a dream.

(Carmen comes rushing in to the living room. She’s confused and worried.)

Carmen:

Jamie what happened?! Are you alright?

Jamie:

I’m fine. I just had a nightmare that’s all.

Carmen:

You’ve been acting kind of strange lately. I can tell when something is bothering you. Now that you’re having nightmares and you keep things from your uncle and I, it’s obvious that there’s something eating away at you.

Jamie:

(disgusted)

You’re not my mother!

(Jamie gets up to exit but Carmen forcefully grabs her arm to stop her. The force swings Jamie back around to face her.)

Jamie:

Don’t touch me! We’ve already seen what happened when you put your hands one me before.

Carmen:

I thought that you and I were making a break through.

Jamie:

(giving in to Carmen)

You seriously want to know what’s wrong with me?

Carmen:

Yes...yes I do. I know that when I wasn’t there for you all those years, I lost something, and now it’s came to bite me in the ass. I lost your love and your trust and now hopefully you’ll let me gain that back. So, please tell me what’s wrong. I’m here for you.

(Jamie looks to the side. She gets an idea in her head. Then she turns around and takes a few steps in front of Carmen.)

Jamie:

There’s that one saying from that Tom Cruise movie, "A Few Good Men." You want the truth? Well you can’t handle the truth.

(Jamie turns around to face Carmen and stares her right in the eyes. Jamie wasn't backing down.)

Jamie:

I have hidden something so terrible, that I don’t even think you could go through with it if it ever happened to you.

Carmen:

Then what is it? Whatever it is-

Jamie:

You’re here for me. Is being there for me really enough? The other night I went to a party. Everything was going well. I met this interesting looking guy. Kind of like that punk rocker who you know is a bad boy. We started talking, I take a sip of my drink, and just like that-

(A tear falls from her cheek to her mouth. She wipes her eyes to continue.)

Jamie:

I- I find myself naked in his bed. And he’s next to me! Holding me like we were going out.

Carmen:

(shocked)

Oh my god, Jamie!

Jamie:

Then I got all my dignity to sever and muster up so much courage to leave, without being noticed by anyone. The room was dark but I had to find every single piece of clothing that I had peeled off of me when I was unconscious and taken advantage of! That’s right! I was used for sex!

(Carmen hugs Jamie out of pity and tries calming her down by shushing her, but the tears kept falling because Jamie had let her barrier down to let out the agony that Terry had placed in.)

Carmen:

Who was it? Who the hell would do such a vile and disgusting thing to you?

Jamie:

His name is Terry Lomburgh.

Carmen:

That name- He’s all over the news. He was arrested for Shanna Schoolor’s murder. Supposedly he was a secret lover of her’s.

Jamie:

How about I let you in on a little secret. I know something about that.

Carmen:

What ever it is Jamie, you can’t tell a soul. No one should know what you know! Whatever it is. This case is so serious and your uncle would be crushed.

(The doorbell is then rung. Carmen walks over to the foyer door to answer it. A badge is flashed in her face.)

Ryley:

We’re here to investigate more on Terry Lomburgh ma’am, and we believe that Jamie Wyze may be a prominent source. May I came in?

- - -

Scene 5:

(Heidel Foyer)

(Dravis shuts the door behind him. He then throws down his bags. He’s so happy to be home. No more jail. No more rotten inmates. No more interrogation from Ryley.)

Dravis:

(hollering)

Tiffany?

(After getting no response, Dravis goes into the kitchen, but he finds no one. The house sounded and seemed empty. Maybe she wasn’t there.)

Dravis:

Wonder where she is.

(Dravis walks back into the foyer to retrieve his baggage. He then begins to walk upstairs, until he finds a note on a notepad with a silver pen next it, lying on the foyer table. How could have he missed it? Now that it was oblivious to his vision, it was all that was in sight. Dravis breathed deeply before reading it.)

Dravis:

(reading)

Dravis, I’m happy for your return but I will not be able to celebrate with you...not yet at least. Unfortunately I was called into work late and do not know what time I’ll be home. Love you, Tiffany.

(Something wasn’t right. Tiffany would have called him. Her job isn’t that demanding. Dravis picks up the phone and dials information.)

Dravis:

Kensington Way Library please. Yes, you can connect me.

(A familiar voice on the other end answers his call.)

Georgetta:

Kensington Way Public Library, this is Georgetta, how may I help you.

Dravis:

I could spot that sweet hummingbird voice anyway. Georgetta Smalls, how are you?

Georgetta:

Mister Heidel, is that you?

Dravis:

You better believe it.

Georgetta:

I heard about your release. I’m so happy for you.

Dravis:

It seems I should be happy for you. Having a new job and all.

Georgetta:

The library is a nice little gig. It pays the bills. So, what can I do for you Mister Heidel?

Dravis:

Well you could connect me to my wife please.

Georgetta:

Is she expecting your call?

Dravis:

Not exactly.

Georgetta:

Let me go and look for her.

(Dravis waits for a couple of seconds. Elevator music floods his ears. Until she picks it back up.)

Georgetta:

I’m sorry Mister Heidel I couldn’t find your wife.

Dravis:

She should be there. I got a note from her saying that she had to work late.

Georgetta:

Oh...she works here. I’m new to the job.

Dravis:

It’s kind of important.

Georgetta:

Hold please.

(She was doing what she did best. Being a secretary with a mother’s touch.)

Georgetta:

I’m sorry Mister Heidel but I can’t find her.

Dravis:

That’s impossible. Would you check the schedule for me?

Georgetta:

I have it right here. I’m looking but I don’t see her name.

Dravis:

There must be some mistake. If you see her, please tell her to call me.

Georgetta:

Sure thing Mister Heidel. It’s almost as if-

Dravis:

You’re working for me again.

Georgetta:

Silly isn’t it? Well I hope all is well. Have a good night Mister Heidel.

(Georgetta hangs up with Dravis who stands in his foyer frozen. Where could she be? Why isn’t she at the place that she said that she would? Does she even work there? The questions were floating around his head, making him paranoid.)

Dravis:

What the hell is going on?

- - -

Scene 6:

(Barone Household)

(Carmen looks at Ryley with deep eyes. Cops can smell fear, so she can’t let him know that anything is wrong.)

Carmen:

Not to sound coy Mister Schantz, but do you have a warrant?

Ryley:

I could get one printed up as soon as possible. However, we really don’t need to acquire one if only talk to a source. May I come in?

Carmen:

Of course. I was just making sure that-

Ryley:

No need to explain yourself.

Carmen:

Sure thing. Please excuse me.

(Ryley leads himself into the living room. Ryley turns around and finds Carmen walking upstairs to give him and Jamie privacy. He was going to yell for Jamie but thought that it would be a little bit rude. The yelling wasn’t necessary because she was sitting on the couch with her arms and legs crossed. She feels uncomfortable. Ryley was taught that in body language.)

Ryley:

Hello Jamie.

Jamie:

Hello.

Ryley:

Do you know why I’m here?

Jamie:

I have a pretty good idea. And the fact that I made that phone call to you...well I was expecting to see you sooner.

Ryley:

We’ve been busy. I’m here to question you more on Terry Lomburgh.

Jamie:

Anything you want to know.

Ryley:

How well did you know him?

Jamie:

I met him at a party about a month ago. He seemed like a sleaze but we became friends.

Ryley:

A sleaze?

Jamie:

The type who was a womanizer.

Ryley:

When you called me, you were scared out of your mind, why? How did that phone call come about?

Jamie:

Terry and I were drinking this one night. Just the two of us. At least he was because he’s the legal age limit, and I wasn’t because-

Ryley:

You don’t have to justify anything. Please continue.

Jamie:

He got really drunk. I know that when people drink that they start to get emotional. He was beyond emotional. Then he started to confess things. Saying how sorry he felt about sleeping with Shanna. He was telling me that- He did something very bad.

Ryley:

So he didn’t come out and say that he murdered her?

Jamie:

Not at first. I kind of dragged that one out of him. He gave me a call saying that he was going over to her apartment because he left something there. That was about the time I called you.

Ryley:

Thank you for your time. We’re pretty sure that he is the one. Thanks to your words, it’s clear that the two were a secret item.

Jamie:

Of course.

(Ryley exits. Jamie watches as he leaves. She sort of laughs devilishly. It wasn’t like her.)

Jamie:

(to herself)

Oh Terry! You should have learned not to mess with me.

(Carmen stands over the foyer balcony. She noticed the weirdness that Jamie was possessing and overheard what she had said. What was Jamie hiding? Carmen was sure to find out.)

Scene 7:

(Bryant’s car, nighttime)

(Later that night, Bryant drives off into a ditch that overlooks the moonlighted valley. He turns off the car. The crickets and the owls are chirping away. Bryant looks over to his occupied passenger seat. Tiffany is beginning to come to.)

Bryant:

You awake yet?

Tiffany:

(groggy)

Yeah. Where are we?

Bryant:

We couldn’t continue in your house because your husband was soon to be coming home and we definitely couldn’t go into my house. My home is occupied by my wife and my niece and since they know nothing about what I really did...I don’t think that they would understand.

Tiffany:

Whatever it is-

Bryant:

Shut up and listen!

(Tiffany quickly obeys.)

Bryant:

This place is where I used to escape to when I wanted some alone time. However you won’t even remember it. A nice friend of mine, who is a scientist slash doctor, gave me this tricky little drug that can alter the mind. Some call it a mind alter, hell it could even be called a haluicigen.

Tiffany:

Are you going to inject me?

(Bryant stares into Tiffany’s sleepy eyes. Soon it was going to be all over and life could resume as normal. He flicks the needle and before Tiffany could try to let out a blood curdling scream, he quickly stabs her in the arm. She goes out again. Only this time her eyes are fluttering from the effects of the drug.)

Bryant:

You went to work as planned. You had to stay late. It was the boss’s orders. Nothing happened last night or today. Absolutely nothing.

(Bryant starts his car up again and begins to drive back to his and her’s residence.)

- - -

Scene 8:

(Dravis’s bedroom)

(Before he could go to sleep, Dravis lay somewhat awake, looking at the empty side next to him. He begins to think to himself of everything happened recently. Shanna supposedly being alive and Tiffany not working at her job. There must have been a mistake.)

(He heard the door open and shut. Dravis closes his eyes as he knew that Tiffany was home and was soon to join him. He quickly fell asleep into his dream world.)

(Dravis finds himself at the hospital again. The filter is a combination of both black and white, more white then black, with aging film. It was almost as if he was walking down an old horror movie film. Except the film was his dream. He is wearing normal, comfortable, plain looking clothes. He keeps walking down this hallway. Seeing the doctor who told him about his wife and child. Seeing Vanessa greeting him on the other end of the hallway. Her smile could light up any dark room. But it frightened Dravis. Then came her childlike giggle.)

Dravis:

What do you want?

Vanessa:

We’re getting closer daddy.

Dravis:

Closer to what?

Vanessa:

Answers! Answers to your real life problems.

Dravis:

This is just getting too weird for words.

Vanessa:

This is just the beginning.

Dravis:

You know for a little girl, you sure are mature.

Vanessa:

Thank you daddy. Come along.

Dravis:

Where are we going?

Vanessa:

You’ll see.

(Dravis follows her as she walks into a hospital room. The beeping noises of an I.V. monitor was filling his ears. The room was dark, except for the hospital bed that was occupying the whole room that had a light blue glistening curtain around the bed’s rim.)

Dravis:

Whose room is this?

Vanessa:

It’s mommy’s room.

Dravis:

Why are we here?

Vanessa:

Mommy’s behind everything. Mommy’s behind everything. All your problem, she has caused. All your plans, she has paused. With one flip of the switch, she did you wrong. This is the bitch who’s behind everything all along.

(The chant had caused Dravis to shutter a bit. When he heard those weird words, he thought to himself that Vanessa could attack him at any time. With courage, Dravis walks over to the curtain. He sees the outline of the woman who is lying like sleeping beauty on her hospital bed. Arms crossed at her waist. Holding on to something that was anything but a flower.)

Dravis:

Let’s find out who you are!

(Dravis opens the curtain.)

Dravis:

(shocked)

It’s...it’s...it’s her!

On the next episode of Kensington Way:

Vanessa's mother is revealed and everything begins to change!
